Miami, FL (November 6, 2009) – Last night the stars were out for the 10th edition of the Latin Grammy awards ceremony, and shining brighter than ever were Sony Music’s talents!

Taking home more awards than anyone else, five in all, were the members of Puerto Rican duo Calle 13. Also winning the 2009 Latin Grammy were Vicente Fernández, Gilberto Santa Rosa, Fito Páez, Mercedes Sosa and, for the first time, Reik!

The Mandalay Bay hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada, was the setting for the most important awards in Latin music, given by the Latin Recording Academy. And captivating audiences that night with their songs were Spanish duo La Quinta Estación, performing Me Dueles; Mexican group Reik, powerful with their hit Inolvidable; and, in what turned out to be a historic performance, the irreverent Residente and Visitante of Calle 13, singing La Perla with renowned Panamanian singer/songwriter and actor Rubén Blades.

Blades also led a beautiful tribute to one of Latin America’s most beloved artists, the recently deceased Argentine singer Mercedes Sosa, who won posthumously a Latin Grammy for her new album Cantora 1 in the Best Folk Album category.

Participating in the ceremony as presenters were Puerto Rican singer and songwriter Kany García and Amaia Montero from Spain.

Gilberto Santa Rosa and Oscar D’ León also had everyone on their feet dancing to their various hits!

And on November 4, the night before this magnificent event, another very special evening took place in honor of the Latin Academy’s 2009 Person of the Year, with performances by Sony Music artists Franco De Vita, La Quinta Estación, and Gilberto Santa Rosa.

Sin duda, uno de los momentos culminantes de la ceremonia fue el triunfo de Vicente Fernández –El Rey de las Rancheras– en la categoría de ‘Mejor Álbum Ranchero’, por ‘Primera Fila’, su primer CD+DVD en vivo.

Por estos días Vicente Fernández se encuentra en gira, dando sus tradicionales conciertos en el Gibson Amphitheatre de Los Ángeles, California, y promocionando el tema “Tengo Una Amante” segundo sencillo de su más reciente producción, ‘Necesito de Ti’.

‘Puro P*nche Party’ con LOS REYES DE ARRANQUE

Los Reyes de Arranque son una de las más recientes y prometedoras contrataciones de Sony Music, que ya el próximo 10 de noviembre lanzará su nuevo disco, con el original nombre de ‘Puro P*nche Party’, en alusión al ya famoso grito de batalla de estos incombustibles jóvenes.

Reik obtuvo el reconocimiento como “Mejor Artista Pop” en la Octava entrega de Los premios MTV Latinoamérica 2009, compitiendo contra artistas como: Jesse & Joy, Fanny Lu, Miranda! y Paulina Rubio; siendo los seguidores del grupo quien les diera la victoria a través de sus votos, en la premiación que se llevó ayer en Los Ángeles, California.

For the first time, MTV Latin America’s Los Premios MTV included a new category, Best MTV Tr3s New Artist, and Puerto Rican group Da’Zoo was chosen as the public’s favorite! This was Da’Zoo’s first award ever!

On Thursday night, the awards ceremony took place from the Gibson Amphitheatre in Los Angeles, California. Los Premios MTV 2009 incorporated two new categories, including the Best MTV Tr3s New Artist, with the winner being chosen by MTV Tr3s viewers. Unable to attend because they were shooting a video for a new single in Puerto Rico, Da’Zoo sent their acceptance message via video.

The members of Da’Zoo are currently promoting the song Pa’ Sentirnos Bien, from their debut album Da’Zoo.
